ABOUT THE ROLE 

As a Senior Underwriter/Credit Risk Manager (m/f/d) you will be responsible for the underwriting of our European and UK SME and corporate clients. In addition to case processing, you will support us in continuously improving our underwriting standards and systems.

You will work closely with Goncalo, out Team Lead Underwriting, and colleagues from the Credit, Sales, Product, Legal and Operations teams

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

  • Due diligence: Assess who our customers are, how and with whom they trade, what their public and financial profile and credit risk is
  • Underwriting: You analyze business and financial information of our customers (e.g., register and agency reports, bank account and financial statements), write up the key risks and mitigants and conclude
  • Credit decision: You decide on limit requests of our customers within your credit mandate and help us building a performing loan book
  • Risk ownership: You own a set of high-limit customers, know them inside out, follow their development over time, and monitor their risk profiles that you regularly present to the credit risk committee
  • Research: You support the building of credit standards across our international markets as we expand into new markets
  • Innovation: You get to the heart of complex operational workflows and IT systems, understand how to systematize, and continuously improve them together with your colleagues
  • Communication: You are a facilitator and ensure a smooth and fact-based information flow between your colleagues. In doing so, you support the development of a culture of open dialogue, which is focused on mutual respect and the joint achievement of excellent results

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 3-6 years of operational experience in risk assessment for corporate customers or SMEs from a bank or fintech
  • Experience with IT systems used for loan processing, credit decisioning tools, and CRMs
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and industry-specific financial analysis. Previous exposure to open banking data is a plus
  • Analytical thinking, detail orientation and ability to quickly understand new problems and systems and work out solutions
  • Project management skills and demonstrated ability to design and steer complex projects end to end
  • Determination and desire to work in a team to achieve high-quality results for our customers, even under stress
  • Fluent English with very good writing skills. Other European languages are a plus
