Your Opportunity as the Plant Engineer

Become a key member of our plant leadership team at our Grandview facility where we produce some of the most beloved Smucker’s products. Leverage your operational knowledge to help guide a high performance work organization, ensuring quality standards are met across the facility. Help to coach other engineering professionals, lead planning productions activities, and direct maintenance of plant equipment.

Location: Grandview, WA

Work Arrangements: 100% onsite M-F (flexibility to work additional hours during 4 week harvest season)

 

In this role you will:

  • Serve as primary administrator for plant control systems; is a key member of the plant technical leadership team.
  • Work with Plant Engineering, E&I coordinators and technicians to identify losses, and develop plans and strategies to eliminate them, in the areas of safety, quality, reliability and cost.
  • Maintain and improve electrical distribution system.
  • Work with Engineering IS team to maintain and update plant Historical database standards and accuracy (Oracle Proficy Historian), and other IT related functions.
  • Own and manage plant Capital budget; tracks Capital spending against budget and manage accordingly.
  • Develop the plant 5-Year Capital Plan; work includes establishment, maintenance, forecasting and reporting of Capital needs; work with Finance, Operations, and Consumer TSO to ensure plans align with the Plant and SBA Masterplans.
  • Lead the Initiative Management (IM) Pillar for the plant including implementation of IM tools and coaching/development of plant resources; support Company efforts in design and improvement of corporate project management systems including IM Pillar team efforts.
  • Manage Capital and Expense spending; ensure finance standards are being followed by project and start up leaders; ensure proper purchasing standards are followed during the execution of equipment specifications and requisitions; analyze spend trends and use date to improve systems.
  • Ensure successful project start-ups using IM tools including development of equipment standards & specifications; Factory Acceptance Testing protocol and Commissioning protocol; coach engineering resources and project startup leaders.
  • Participate in and provide technical feedback for new initiatives and product development; partner with R&D in new product development to ensure successful engineering and equipment selection to deliver required process transformations.
  • Manage the facilities department and systems ensuring proper maintenance of all facilities and maintaining property records for the site.
  • Lead the Grandview Sustainability Pillar on efforts to meet sustainability goals including energy, water, and waste reduction.

 

Compensation information:

Salary: $101,000 – $146,850

Annual Incentive Bonus: 12.5% target

Holiday Bonus: 2%

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience leading or managing capital projects
  • Experience leading teams
  • Profit and loss experience
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role (not required):

  • Demonstrated experience in building a high-performance work culture and systems
  • Experience in one or more of the following technologies: process/making equipment, packaging equipment, process controls, electrical and/or controls engineering, facilities engineering
  • Advanced TPM, Lean, Six Sigma or other experience with the implementation of High Performing Work Systems
